A
much more even affair, the top half dozen clubs could all have taken the League Title in the 2000/01 season but it was Mansfield
Town who finished the stronger leaving Chesterfield and Parkgate in their wake.
Telford United, however, suffered a dramatic decline in their fortunes falling from the runner
up position 12 months ago into the relegation zone. Following the clubs’ appeal against a late extension
to the seasons final date, it was decided by the Management Committee, however, after consultation with the FA, that only
one club be relegated and Telford United were saved. The decision was taken to operate with 13 clubs during the following
season.
Although Kidderminster Harriers
finished as West Midland Regional League Champions they declined promotion. They were replaced by runners up Lichfield
Diamonds who were joined by the Unison East Midland Regional League Champions Lincoln City.
During the summer break, however, Arnold Town collapsed and the league was restored to its usual
12 clubs. Wyrley Rangers changed their name to Walsall Town and Kilnhurst to Parkgate. Newcastle Town
were relegated from the National Division after just one season. They subsequently changed to Port Vale. |
