The 2003/4 season saw a couple of name changes, with Parkgate becoming Rotherham United, and Ilkeston Ladies
taking the name Ilkeston Villa. Ilkeston Town joined the league after their relegation
from the FA Women’s Premier League Division 1 North while Nottingham Forest and Crewe Vagrants played at this level
for the first time after winning their respective East and West Midlands Championships. Nottingham Forest got off to a flying
start and eventually lost out only on goal difference to Coventry City, even though the Reds beat the Sky Blues in their final
league game. Unfortunately Bridgnorth found themselves unable to start the season, and partway through the League saw another
withdrawal, this time of Highfield Rangers. This meant that although Stafford Rangers suffered a dreadful season and ended
without a point, there was no relegation to the Regional leagues as there were two vacancies to be filled. |
